A Message to My Friends and Supporters
November 5, 2013
Dear Friends and Supporters,
I am seeking re-election to the Oceanside City Council in 2014, and am asking for your support and your vote. Since first being elected to the Oceanside City Council in 2006, I have worked hard to bring positive change to Oceanside by championing issues that can make our city a better place to live, do business, and enjoy our unique recreational opportunities. I have been a good steward of city finances, an advocate of the taxpayer, and a strong supporter of our business community. While serving on the city council some of the positive changes I have championed include the expansion of bike trails, two new parks, a new fire station, a new senior center, the development of El Corazon, and our new Veteran’s Administration Medical Center in Oceanside to better serve our ever-expanding veteran community.
In regards to city operations, I have provided leadership that guarded the financial well-being of our city by holding the line on wages, supported sensible pension reform, and capped the city’s health care costs in employee-labor negotiations. I have also supported the reduction of fees and streamlining of regulations and permitting process.
Oceanside’s future remains bright with the recent announcement of Genentech investing another $132 million in its Oceanside facility. This business expansion opportunity brings additional high-tech jobs. Also pending is the development and construction of several new hotels and businesses in our downtown, which will create more job opportunities, contribute to our tourism industry, and increase revenue to support city services for years to come. We need to continue to plan for the future. I will represent you, the taxpayer, by being prudent and wise in spending your tax dollars, promoting Oceanside as a destination for tourists, and enlarging our employment opportunities by encouraging businesses to locate and grow in Oceanside.
I believe the taxpayers of Oceanside deserve a city government that is accountable, one that has a strategic and comprehensive vision that benefits all its citizens, now and into the future. As your Council Member for the past seven years, I hope I have been successful in earning your trust and continued support; but being successful needs a strong, organized campaign, so I am committed to do my part in the campaign ahead, including walking precincts, attending neighborhood meetings, candidate forums and fundraisers, distributing flyers, telephoning residents, printing and placing yard signs, coordinating volunteers, maintaining a campaign headquarters, and ultimately earning voters’ support.
I care deeply about my community, not just for today, but for our future generations. That is why the long-term viability and vitality of Oceanside has always been my priority, and why I believe my continued leadership is needed. Hopefully, I can count on you! Let's keep Oceanside on the right track and keep its future bright.
